Amazon has launched its first waterproof Kindle, the new Kindle Oasis, which will also have Audible built in and feature a larger, seven-inch display.
The new Kindle is priced at £229.99 - £40 cheaper than the Oasis was when it was first released last year.
The device will feature the largest, highest-resolution Paperwhite display, with the "fastest page turns" of any Kindle. The "crisp" text also reads like paper, said the online retailer, and the design "shifts the centre of gravity to your palm so the device rests in your hand like the spine of a book, no matter which hand you chose to read with". It has Audible built in, meaning users can access the Audible stores (and over 200,000 audiobooks) directly from their device.
The new Oasis weighs 194 grammes -10 grammes less than the Kindle Paperwhite.
Dave Limp, senior vice president of Amazon Devices and Services, described the new Kindle Oasis as "our most advanced Kindle ever", saying: "Its thin, light, and waterproof design allows readers to stay engaged in the author’s world in even more places than ever before.”
