Amazon has reportedly paused production of the third and final season of "Good Omens", an adaptation of the novel by Neil Gaiman of the same title. The news follows a number of accusations against Gaiman of alleged sexual assault.
Entertainment news outlet Deadline reported that it has heard of "discussions about possible production changes". The Radio Times previously reported that the series was expected to be released in late 2025 or early 2026, and that filming was set to begin in January 2025. The show is produced by BBC Studios Productions, Amazon MGM Studios, the Blank Corporation and production company Narrativia, and airs globally on Prime Video.
Announcing the third series in December 2023, a BBC release said: "The forthcoming season will bring to life a serendipitous conversation from almost 35 years ago, between Neil Gaiman and the late Sir Terry Pratchett, where they mapped out ‘what happens next’ to the wonderful characters in the world of their internationally best-selling novel."
It has also been reported that Disney has also paused production of "The Graveyard Book", a feature adaptation of Gaiman’s 2008 novel.
The Bookseller has contacted the production companies behind "Good Omens", including Amazon, as well as Neil Gaiman’s representatives for comment. Gaiman’s publishers—Headline, Bloomsbury, Penguin Random House (PRH) and HarperCollins US—have also been contacted for comment. Headline declined to comment at this time.
