Amy Batley has joined Hutchinson Heinemann as senior commissioning editor.
Batley initially joined the fiction team last year, covering parental leave, from Hodder & Stoughton. She has published Rachel Khong, Flora Carr and is working with Michael Deagler and Olivia Gatwood as well as the Wodehouse Estate.
During her time at Hodder, Batley worked across the fiction list, including on bestselling brand authors like David Nicholls.
Batley, who will begin building her own list of fiction titles for the imprint, said: “I have loved my time at Hutchinson Heinemann so far, and I am delighted to be building a list permanently as part of a team I hugely admire.
“It’s an exciting time for Hutchinson Heinemann as I take on a new role where I can continue to champion talented authors, collaborate with wonderful agents and colleagues and publish the very best literary fiction.”
Hutchinson Heinemann publishing director, Ailah Ahmed, added: “Amy is a brilliant addition to the fiction team. She joined us to cover Charlotte Cray’s parental leave and has expertly published many titles over the last few months.
“Amy has also contributed much to backlist work at Hutchinson Heinemann and to some of the estates we look after. She is the perfect fit for the team, is incredibly hardworking and I cannot wait to see her build her list here."
