Octopus Publishing Group has promoted Angela Luxton, previously finance director, to the position of commercial director.
Rreporting in to Alison Goff, chief executive of Octopus, in her new role Luxton will move beyond the day-to-day of managing Octopus’ financial accounting and reporting to play a "broader and more significant" commercial role.
According to Octopus, having been involved in planning Octopus' move to the new Hachette UK Distribution Centre, she will now be working to deliver strategic goals with a view to ensuring every area of the business is focussed on improving profitability.
Luxton will also be involved in overseeing the integration of Summersdale and Kyle Books, two acquisitions Octopus made last year.
Goff, c.e.o. Octopus, said: "Angela has played a significant role in the growth of Octopus and recently she has been at the forefront of planning our move to Hachette Distribution at the Hely Hutchinson Centre. It is enormously satisfying to see her step up to take on a broader remit within the group. As we continue to grow our business it is vital that we have astute commercial thinkers alongside the creative energy which drives us forward."
Luxton said: "I am hugely excited about being given this opportunity to be at the forefront of crafting and steering the Octopus Vision. Through our recent acquisitions we’ve gone through a period of rapid growth and now have a diverse but solid business model which we can build on for the future."
Octopus Publishing Group was the first publisher to move to the Hely Hutchinson Centre, the new Hachette UK Distribution Centre, at the beginning of August.
