DK has appointed Zara Anvari in the new role of senior acquisitions editor for the Life division.
Anvari was previously commissioning editor at Quarto, where she worked across lifestyle, travel and popular culture for White Lion Publishing. Her successes for Quarto include The Photography Storytelling Workshop by Finn Beales and Niksen.
Before Quarto, Anvari was at Octopus, where she worked with fashion industry leaders to develop commercial art and lifestyle titles, including Tate, National Gallery and Central Saint Martins.
At DK, Anvari will be reporting to publishing director Katie Cowan, who has overseen significant success over the past 18 months with titles on the Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller lists.
“Zara’s appointment completes our new acquisitions team at DK Life,” said Cowan. “Her international coedition publishing acumen and commercial expertise make her the perfect fit alongside Stephanie Milner and Marleigh Price. I look forward to overseeing our continued growth and commissioning success in their hands.”
“So often I have found that the must-read title on any one subject is a DK book,” said Anvari. “I am therefore delighted to be joining such a formidably talented and creative team. I am very proud of the award-winning, internationally successful list my brilliant colleagues and I have built at Quarto in recent years, and I cannot wait to get started at DK, commissioning exciting new books and expert authors with strong global appeal.”
