Arcturus Publishing has been bought out by its management from founder and majority shareholder Ian McLellan.
McLellan co-founded the business in 1993, specialising in adult reference titles, games, puzzles and classics. The publisher also produces children’s educational, activity and reference books, and has more than 2,000 titles in print.
“Key to our success has been our focus on listening to our customers and executing inventive publishing ideas for a broad range of markets,” McLellan said. “I am confident that the new management team will continue to hold to these principles and am delighted that the independent future of the company is assured.”
The turnover of the company in the year to end March 2022 was more than £15m, Arcturus said.
Its new board, led by managing director Paul Byers, includes Siaw Ann Chok as c.f.o., Niko Heyng as c.o.o. and Charles Cooper as chief marketing officer.
Byers said: “I am delighted and honoured to take this next step with Arcturus. This transition will ensure the stability and ongoing success of our publishing story. It will allow us to continue our commitment to delivering for our customers and growing the ranges we offer. We and everyone at Arcturus are excited about the opportunities ahead.”
