Cornerstone imprint Arrow has acquired Sophie Cousens' second novel Just Haven’t Met You Yet, a "high-concept love story" about a hopeless romantic.
The novel will follow Laura after she accidentally picks up the wrong suitcase at the airport and sees in its contents evidence that the true owner may just be the man of her dreams. Laura knows that this is the sign she has been waiting for, and makes it her mission to return the suitcase and find "the one".
Editor Sonny Marr acquired world rights from Clare Wallace at the Darley Anderson Literary, TV and Film Agency. Just Haven’t Met You Yet will be published in e-book on 1st September 2021, with a paperback original following on the 11th November 2021.
In 2020 Arrow published Cousens' debut This Time Next Year, another high-concept love story that followed Quinn and Minnie, who are born on the same night, at the same hospital, at the same time.
Marr said: "It’s been amazing to see so many readers falling in love with Sophie Cousens’ debut This Time Next Year and we have big ambitions for her follow-up. Just Haven’t Met You Yet promises another escape to a world of hope and joy where the promise of love is always just around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited to be publishing it on the Arrow list."
Cousens commented: "Just Haven't Met You Yet is a fun-filled road-trip of a rom com. Laura is a die-hard romantic who's looking for her perfect meet-cute, but in her quest to find him, she stumbles upon so much more. The book explores themes of memory and loss, and looks at how we remember what is important. The setting for the story, Jersey in the Channel Islands, has special meaning for me, as it has been my home for the past six years, and I hope readers will fall in love with the island just as I have."
