Arts Council England (ACE) has delayed an announcement unveiling the next funding round for its national portfolio organisations.
A statement from ACE said that, following discussions with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), “we have agreed to delay the announcement of the organisations joining our 2023-26 Investment Programme, due to take place on 26th October”.
The national portfolio organisations include a number of publishers and literary organisations. ACE said the announcement of the portfolio will instead be made “as soon as possible within the coming days”. The reason for the delay was not stated.
Darren Henley, Arts Council England’s chief executive, said: “We feel for everyone awaiting the outcome of their funding application [and] recognise the importance of giving organisations certainty to enable business planning and we know a delay will cause some disruption.
“We thank everyone for their patience. We are working with DCMS to reschedule this announcement as soon as possible.”
ACE’s announcement of the delay was made on 25th October, the day Rishi Sunak became Prime Minister. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, who is remaining in post under the new leader, is currently scheduled to unveil details of a new fiscal plan on 31st October which would include tax and spending announcements.
