Atlantic buys Yvette Cooper book on women's oratory

Atlantic Books has bought world rights to the first book by Labour MP Yvette Cooper, to be published in November 2019.

She Speaks: The Power of Women’s Voices was directly acquired by Mike Harpley, editorial director for Non-Fiction. The book will be published in hardback and e-book in November 2019.

She Speaks is described as a personal selection telling the story of 30 inspirational speeches given by women, including Margaret Thatcher, Malala and gun control activist Emma Gonzales, with each speech reproduced in full and introduced by Cooper. The book will also explore the role of oratory in Cooper’s own life, “explaining why silencing women must be forever confined to the past”.

Yvette Cooper has been the MP for Pontefract and Castleford since 1997 and is chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee.
