Campaigns for Margaret Atwood's The Testaments (Vintage) and Lisa Taddeo's Three Women (Bloomsbury) were among the winners at the Book Marketing Society (BMS) Awards last night.
Rosanna Boscawen, Chloe Healy and Sophie Painter from Vintage won Best Adult Fiction Campaign for their work on the Booker winner, with Tom Noble at Orion highly commended for his work on The Chain by Adrian McKinty. BMS said: “For the book event of the decade, the team at Vintage were by no means complacent, and created a dovetailed, innovative and highly impactful campaign which made the most of every opportunity.”
Hannah Paget at Bloomsbury won Best Adult Non-Fiction Campaign. She "delivered a highly impactful and beautiful campaign for an unknown US author by building advocacy from both key influencers and booksellers,” said BMS. Sarah Arratoon, Andy Joannou, Sarah Patel and Connie Roff at PanMacmillan were highly commended for Gotta Get Theroux This by Louis Theroux.
Elsewhere, Sonia Razvi at Puffin Books won Best Children's Campaign for Top Marks for Murder by Robyn Stevens and Naomi Berwin at Hachette Children’s Group took home the YA prize for The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millwood Hargrave.
Start Your Voyage by HarperCollins team Fleur Clarke, Emma Pickard and Rachel Quin scooped Best Multi-Title Campaign. Clarke picked up a second award for Best Guerrilla Campaign for In at the Deep End by Kate Davies as her HarperCollins colleagues Hannah O’Brien and Ellie Pilcher at Avon picked up Best Debut Campaign for Our Stop by Laura Jane Williams.
Three spotlight awards were presented with a third nod for Clarke and a second nod for Quin at HarperCollins. Their work on One Minute Later by Susan Lewis won the Audience Development Award.
Innovation Spotlight went to Simon & Schuster's Amy Fulwood for Over the Top by Jonathan Van Ness and Creativity Spotlight was awarded to Felice McKeown at Zaffre with The Holiday by T M Logan.
The winners of the BMS July-September 2019 Awards were announced at the quarterly Members’ Meeting, held last night (20th November) at Total Media.
