J K Rowling’s The Tales of Beedle the Bard is being released as an audiobook read by Harry Potter stars.
The digital audio production is a collaboration between Pottermore Publishing, the global digital publisher of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series, and Audible. It will be released on 31st March.
Tales of Beedle the Bard is a short story collection set in the world of Harry Potter and will feature Jude Law (Albus Dumbledoor in the Fantastic Beasts films), Warwick Davis (Professor Filius Flitwick in the Harry Potter films), Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger in the original West End and Broadway runs of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films) and Sally Mortemore (Madame Pince in the Harry Potter films).
"Translated from the original runes by Hermione Granger, this collection of stories includes The Tale of the Three Brothers, familiar to readers of Harry Potter for the crucial role it played in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. These funny and captivating tales are accompanied by explanatory notes from Professor Albus Dumbledore," reads the synopsis.
Senior vice-president of Audible content Diana Dapito said: “We are delighted to bring fans' favourite performers from across the wizarding world together for this unforgettable listening experience. Making The Tales of Beedle the Bard available to members continues Audible’s ongoing efforts to deliver accessible, engaging, and immersive audio entertainment to millions of people all over the world.”
Ninety percent of the proceeds received by Pottermore from the audiobook will go to the Lumos Foundation, an international organisation founded by Rowling in 2005 to “have children worldwide out of institutions and in loving family care by 2050”.
