Avon has unveiled a number of promotions across the division, with Katie Loughnane, Sabah Khan and Molly Walker-Sharp all stepping up to new roles, as well as two new recruits—Bethany Wickington and Ellie Pilcher.
Editor Loughnane has been promoted to commissioning editor whilst Walker-Sharp has become assistant editor, after previously being editorial assistant. Both take on these roles with immediate effect.
Meanwhile the imprint’s publicity manager Khan will become head of PR for Avon, one year after being named a Bookseller Rising Star.
Alongside these promotions, Avon has also welcomed some new starters. Wickington joins the division as editorial assistant moving from the same role at Bonnier whilst Canelo’s campaigns officer Pilcher has come on board as Avon’s new marketing manager.
Publishing director Helen Huthwaite said: “I couldn’t be happier to announce these promotions across the division. We have had a fantastic year, but must invest further in our team for future growth.”
Of the new recruits, she said: “We are tremendously excited to welcome our new starters, which reflects our ongoing commitment to the division, and to commercial fiction. Avon continues to be a vibrant and innovative area of HarperCollins and we are thoroughly invested in aggressively growing this key area of the business – and that all starts with having the best team possible.”
Avon was originally established in 2007 as an imprint sell commercial fiction through the supermarket channels to non-traditional book buyers across the trade. It continues to invest in both physical formats - through paperback - as well placing equal weight on digital sales.
