Bantam, an imprint of Transworld, has appointed Thorne Ryan to the newly created position of deputy publishing director, reporting to publisher Frankie Gray.
In her new role Ryan will lead Transworld’s crime and thriller publishing and strategy – working closely with Finn Cotton, senior commissioning editor for crime and thriller, and editorial director Simon Taylor – and will be acquiring widely across the genre.
Ryan joins on Monday 20th February from Avon, where she was deputy publishing director. During her time at Avon, Thorne had ran the division while covering parental leave, publishing C L Taylor’s The Guilty Couple, as well as Helen Fields and digital bestsellers Alice Hunter, Simon McCleave and Claire Allan.
Ryan said: “I have loved working with my incredible Avon authors and colleagues so much, and will miss each and every one of them enormously. However, since the moment I entered the industry, I have wanted to work for Transworld, whose taste, expertise and vision are second to none.
“When this amazing opportunity came up, I just had to grab it with both hands and I absolutely cannot wait to join Frankie, Finn, Simon and the rest of the fantastic team there. Agents, please do add me to your crime and thriller submission lists – I can’t tell you how excited I am to get reading!”
