Author Bolu Babalola and gal-dem founder Liv Little will be among the headliners at this year’s Tottenham Literature Festival (TLF).
The fifth TLF will be held at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre (BGAC) between 13th to 19th November. Black writers, journalists and TV personalities will host a range of talks, events and workshops under the theme of the Black experience through the lens of the human body.
Babalola’s event is called "Love in the Black Imagination" and will explore the role of fantasy and imagination in identity and love. Moreover, gal-dem founder Little will headline an event called "Showing Up for Love", featuring a discussion about love, friendship and modern life after the release of her debut novel Rosewater (Dialogue).
A line-up of Black authors and illustrators will be talking about "the magic of their stories" in an event called "Dr Ronx & More", headlined by BBC and Channel 4 TV presenter and A&E doctor Dr Ronx. Free copies of their book Amazing Bodies (Red Shed) will be available for children during the festival week at BGAC as well as participating libraries.
At a book stall from partner Roundtable Books, featuring the "best in Black writing", audiences can partake in vegan food from Sister Woman Vegan and plant-based social enterprise Moko. There will also be a schools day on Monday 13th November for local schools.
Azieb Pool, artistic director and c.e.o. of the Bernie Grant Arts Centre and founder of TLF, said: “We’re thrilled to be back for our fifth year of the Tottenham Literature Festival. It’s been amazing to see how the festival has grown over the past few years.
"We can’t wait to host some of the most exciting, up and coming Black writers such as Bolu, Liv and Dr Ronx, as well as the legendary Gary Younge who’s writing has been at the forefront of British journalism for 30 years. "
