Manchester Literature Festival has announced three events for spring, including a special event for children to celebrate World Book Day (WBD).
On 7th March, Sebastian Barry will be in conversation with the writer Kit de Waal at Central Library to discuss his new novel Old God’s Time (Faber & Faber). Barry is the author of Days Without End, A Thousand Moons, A Long Long Way and The Secret Scripture (all published by Faber) and held the Laureate for Irish Fiction from 2018-2022, while de Waal has published My Name is Leon (Penguin), The Trick to Time (Penguin) and the memoir Without Warning & Only Sometimes (Tinder Press).
On 21st March, Book Prize-winning author Eleanor Catton will discuss her epic novel The Luminaries (Daphne Press) with the writer Kate Feld, an event presented in partnership with the Centre for New Writing and Creative Manchester at Waterstones Deansgate. The book delves into the New Zealand gold rush and has been adapted for a six-part BBC2 series.
On 2nd March, children’s author and illustrator Rob Biddulph is hosting an interactive, online show based on his new book, The Blue-Footed Booby (HarperCollins Children’s Books), for WBD. Schools can apply to receive the video plus educational resources in advance.
