Anna Baty and Huw Armstrong have been promoted to editorial directors at Hodder & Stoughton with immediate effect.
Formerly senior commissioning editor, Baty joined Hodder in March 2020. Among her first acquisitions was Vaxxers by Sarah Gilbert and Catherine Green, which was a Sunday Times bestseller and was shortlisted for a British Book Award.
Future titles include The Good Virus by Tom Ireland, X Marks the Spot by Michael Scott, Power Up by Yasmin Ali and The Princess and the Key by Moudhy Al Rashid.
Armstrong, also previously a senior commissioning editor, started at Hodder in 2017. As well as developing successful IP projects, he has been commissioning sport, music and popular culture titles, including Eddie Hearn’s bestselling Relentless in 2020, Gary Neville’s The People’s Game, out in September, and Alex South’s Behind These Doors, which was won in an eight-way auction and will publish in spring 2023.
Non-fiction publisher Rupert Lancaster commented: “We’re delighted to be announcing the promotions of Anna and Huw. Both have brought new ideas plus a strong commercial perspective to our non-fiction list. They are key not only to maintaining Hodder & Stoughton’s reputation as a destination non-fiction publisher, but also working with the rest of the team to grow the list across a broad range of publishing.”
