Sarah Bauer, editorial director at Bonnier Books UK, will be joining Avon as deputy publishing director.
Bauer will be commissioning and editing new and existing Avon titles and working closely with publisher Helen Huthwaite across both team management and strategic direction.
Bauer joins Avon in early July. She was at Bonnier for six and a half years and is currently editorial director. Her first acquisition for Zaffre was Helly Acton’s debut and Radio 2 Book Club pick The Shelf. During her time at Bonnier she has published Sunday Times bestsellers such as Michael Ball, Rosie Goodwin and Louise Pentland and Lex Croucher’s Reputation and Infamous.
Huthwaite said: “As soon as we met, I knew that Sarah was the perfect fit for Avon. Her commercial prowess, her talent as an editor, and her thoroughly well-deserved reputation precede her, and I know she will bring all this and more to Avon. I am absolutely thrilled to welcome her on board.”
Bauer said: “I’ve long admired Avon’s clever, commercial publishing so I was thrilled to be offered this wonderful opportunity to work with Helen and the team. I can’t wait to join and to help them grow and develop their already brilliant list. It is always hard to leave books and authors that I adore behind, but I have been very lucky during my six years at Bonnier, working with some of the best people in the industry, who I will miss hugely.”
