Editorial director for BBC Books Yvonne Jacob has been appointed to Headline Publishing’s non-fiction team in the newly created role of deputy publishing director. Meanwhile Bianca Bexton, currently commissioning editor on the Self Hub at Ebury, has been appointed senior commissioning editor.
During her 12 years at Ebury, Jacob worked with the likes of Stacey Dooley, "Strictly Come Dancing"’s Shirley Ballas and presenter Angela Scanlon, as well as on tie-ins to TV shows such as "Taskmaster", "Only Fools and Horses" and "Richard Osman’s House of Games".
From 24th October, in her new role she will have a particular focus on titles in the personal development space as well as looking for commercial non-fiction authors with a platform and opportunities with TV and podcast brands.
She said: “I have always admired Headline for its category-killing and highly commercial non-fiction list and I could not be more thrilled to be building a list with Sarah, and her brilliant, dynamic team. I am eternally grateful to everyone at Ebury for the friendships, kindness, and cake that have sustained me over the past 12 years.”
Bexton will step into her role senior commissioning editor for Headline on 26th September. She is looking to acquire across memoir, personal development, nature writing, lifestyle and current affairs.
Both she and Jacob will report to Headline publishing director Sarah Emsley, who said: “Headline Non-Fiction is in a period of sustained growth. Over the past four years our team has expanded from four people to eight and our turnover and profit has more than doubled.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be welcoming Yvonne and Bianca to the fold as we continue to supercharge our growth. Both these editors are extremely talented and will bring an extra depth and breadth of expertise to our list. I am excited to see what their first days, weeks and months with us will bring.”
Bexton commented: “The past six years at Penguin Random House have been incredible and I feel very lucky to have worked with such talented authors and colleagues who I have learnt so much from. I can’t wait to join the brilliant team at Headline and hit the ground running to build a list that takes their success from strength to strength.”
