BBC’s "Between the Covers" has revealed the books and guests for the new six-part series. Each week, the series, hosted by Sara Cox, welcomes four guests, who each bring along a book they love, to share what it means to them and persuade the nation to try. In each programme they also review a new book pick.
Cox said: "It’s so exciting to be back with some truly fabulous new book picks and a bevy of excellent guests, all keen to share their favourite reads with our viewers. Between "The Covers" feels like dreamy book club—relaxed and funny chat with some lovely people celebrating great books. This series we have some regular favourites returning and some newbies—my teenage self can’t quite believe I’ll be chatting books with one of my heroes Neneh Cherry.”
The six newly published books carefully selected for the series (in broadcast order) are:
The celebrity panellists this series include Alan Davies, Neneh Cherry, Richard Osman, Sara Pascoe, Sir Trevor McDonald, Elizabeth Day, Graham Norton, Gemma Whelan, Stephen Mangan, Taj Atwal, Jack Edwards, Meera Syal, Tom Allen, Jo Brand, Richard Ayoade, Alex Jones, Neil Delamere, Ranvir Singh, Adrian Edmondson, Cariad Lloyd, Ben Miller, Maisie Adam, Olly Smith and Sophie Raworth.
Amanda Ross, the creator of the series, co-founder and chief executive officer of Cactus TV, said: “It was a joy to read so many brilliant books published over the last year to decide the final mix of six we think are guaranteed to get the nation reading and talking. This list includes some of the most entertaining books I’ve ever read in my 20-plus years of picking books for TV book clubs. I’m incredibly proud to be able to help shine a light on them and can’t wait to hear what our wonderful celebrity panels think of them.”
The broadcast date for the new series has yet to be announced.
