Michael Beale has joined Pan Macmillan’s speculative fiction imprint Tor UK as editor.
He previously worked as assistant editor at Titan Books.
The publisher says 2023 has been “a year of impressive growth for Tor UK” and describes Beale’s appointment as "as part of its ongoing ambitious plans".
In his new role, Beale will be supporting Tor publisher Bella Pagan with her growing list of brand authors and will join her and editorial director, Sophie Robinson, in commissioning for the Tor list.
Pagan said: “We’ve had an incredible few years on Tor and the imprint goes from strength to strength. We want to build on our successes and work even more closely with our sister company in the US to ensure we’re bringing the very best of SFF to the UK. We’re delighted that Michael is joining us as part of our expansion plans.”
Beale said: “Titan has been a wonderful place to work, full of brilliant authors and colleagues, and I will miss them very much. I’m delighted to be joining Tor UK as editor and work with the inspirational Bella and her team. I can’t wait to start working on Tor’s phenomenal speculative fiction list."
