Maddy Belton has joined Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency as an associate agent, as the agency expands its children’s and YA department.
She will work alongside Chloe Seager in the children’s department and will represent children’s and YA fiction with a special focus on science fiction and fantasy for all ages, as well as building a select list of children’s non-fiction.
Belton leaves Graham Maw Christie Agency, where she started her career and quickly worked her way up to agent, with a list of authors who wrote for adults and children spanning history, tarot and nature writing. Belton is open to submissions and her wish list can be found here.
The agency’s children’s and YA department represents authors ranging from critically acclaimed prize-winners to commercial bestsellers, including Kate Kirby, Holly Bourne, Kathryn Foxfield and Benjamin Dean, Costa-shortlisted Helen Rutter, Jhalak Prize and Branford Boase-winning Maisie Chan and YA Book Prize-shortlisted Danielle Jawando.
Belton said: “I am thrilled to be joining the fantastic team at Madeleine Milburn and excited to represent authors all over the world in a genre I have loved for a very long time. I can’t wait to build an inspirational and magical list for all ages.”
Seager said: “I’m utterly delighted that Maddy will be joining the MM children’s department. She has a brilliant editorial eye and I’m eager to see her list take shape.”
Milburn also commented: “Thanks to Chloe’s amazing eye for talent, our children’s and YA authors have enjoyed huge success. It therefore feels like the ideal time to expand the children’s and YA department, and Maddy is the perfect agent to ensure the future is as exciting as the present.”
