Bertram Group c.e.o. Raj Patel has called on Boris Johnson to create a "clear Brexit plan" and to support the firm's diverse workforce, ahead of the latest Brexit talks with the European Union.
In a letter to the prime minister, Patel has urged Johnson to "not lose sight of the many migrants that have chosen to make the UK their home".
Patel, who joined Bertrams as c.e.o. in February 2019, called for a "clear Brexit plan", saying the wholesaler and other businesses need "certainty to function".
The letter reads:
Dear The Right Honourable Boris Johnson,
Following the recent election; please now stop all the bickering and in-fighting. Lead this country from the top and be very clear on the Brexit plan. A business like mine, Bertram Group, needs certainty to function and the residents of the United Kingdom are owed your trust and integrity.
Build the trust and be very transparent with us. Let’s not lose sight of the many migrants that have chosen to make the UK their home, including my father who came to England in the 1960s.
I am honoured that Bertram Group has a diverse workforce; many having settled in the UK from Europe to work in the book industry. They have all paid their fair amount of taxes into the Exchequer's funds over the years. They deserve better than getting caught up with a fight against Brussels!
Yours faithfully
Raj Patel, CEO of Bertram Group
