Former senior commissioning editor Bianca Bexton has been promoted to editorial director of Headline Press.
Bexton will now commission across personal development, smart thinking, history, inspirational memoir, popular science and nature, and travel writing. She will continue working alongside publisher Martin Redfern, assistant editor Holly Purdham and editorial assistant Ellie Harris.
Bexton said: "It is brilliant to be part of the editorial team shaping the future of our new imprint. At Headline Press, I’ll be looking for engaging and accessible writing, original perspectives and authors who explore what it is to be human from a unique angle. This could be a cutting-edge piece of smart thinking, an inspiring personal narrative, an awe-inspiring work of popular science or a history that shares overlooked or forgotten voices."
Since joining Headline from Ebury in 2022, Bexton acquired the likes of Gabriella Bennett’s How to Build a City, Julia Rosen’s Grassroots and Primal Intelligence by Professor Angus Fletcher.
The first titles Bexton will publish on the Headline Press list include Likeable Badass by behavioural scientist Alison Fragale, The Official Dopamine Nation Workbook by psychiatrist Dr Anna Lembke and Dr Haru Yamada’s Kiku: The Japanese Art of Good Listening.
Redfern said: "This is a thoroughly well-deserved promotion. Bianca has made a huge impact on Headline’s publishing since her arrival less than two years ago. She is highly thought of by authors and agents, and in a short space of time has expanded our non-fiction into several new areas. She was a driving force behind the creation of Headline Press, and I’m looking forward to seeing all the amazing books she publishes on the new list."
Headline Press launched in May 2024 as Headline Publishing Group’s "serious" non-fiction imprint.
