Everyman has gifted books from its Children’s Classics list to the winners and runners up at the annual Westminster Primary School Birmingham Public Speaking Prize.
This year Salma Salim, aged 11, Ayah Rashad, aged 10, Maysa Jaama, aged 8, and Nadira Mahamud aged 8 received books for their presentations. The competition has been judged by David Campbell, publisher at Everyman’s Library, for the past decade.
Campbell said of the competition: “These kids, many of whom have come from all over the world, sometimes speaking other languages, are brilliant. I have judged this prize and given Everyman Children’s Classics to the winners and runners up for 10 years now. It is always very enjoyable and pleasing to see how much they love good books.”
