Black & White Publishing has acquired Estelle Maskame’s seventh YA novel, Becoming Mila, to be published on the 6th May 2021 as the first book in a two-part series.
The publisher acquired world rights direct from the author.
Set in Los Angeles and Nashville over one summer, Becoming Mila will follow 16-year-old Mila, who lives in LA with her mum and A-list actor dad, whose fame throws them into the media spotlight. When Mila's antics cause a stir ahead of her father's big movie, she is sent away to spend the summer with her aunt and grandfather in Nashville, Tennessee. It's not long before Mila meets Bale, the mayor's son, and, after getting off on the wrong foot, the pair find they have more in common than they think.
The second book in the deal will also follow Mila and Blake's story.
Maskame's first six books, the DIMILY series, was also published by Black & White: Did I Mention I Love You? (2015), Did I Mention I Need You? (2015), Did I Mention I Miss You? (2016), Dare to Fall (2017), Just Don’t Mention It (2018) and The Wrong Side of Kai (2019).
