Bloomsbury Children’s Books has acquired a survival guide for teenagers by YouTuber Lex Croucher.
Croucher said she wrote You’re Crushing It! Positivity for living your REAL life for “my teenage self who was frequently bewildered by what the world threw at her, and for my current self, who often feels the same but now also has to pay council tax”. She said: “A lot of the “inspirational” content we see right now (especially online) is aspirational, and I wanted to write a book of realistic advice that may not end up on Pinterest, but may help young people with problems in the lives they’re actually living.”
Topics covered in the book include family and friends, relationships, body confidence, technology and social media and mental health.
Bloomsbury acquired world rights in all languages from Richard Pike at C&W Agency and will publish in June 2019 alongside a digital-led marketing campaign
Saskia Gwinn, head of children’s non-fiction at Bloomsbury Children’s Books, said: “Increasing numbers of young people are wising up to the fact that there is a real life out there littered with challenges that can’t always be fixed by a filter but that we can all embrace and discuss positively. We couldn’t be prouder to be working with Lex to help share that message with the world. Lex's captivating combination of wit, humour and a passion to empower young people to think positively about who they are is what makes her one of today’s leading aspirational young women on YouTube.”
