Bloomsbury will continue its marketing and publicity campaign for The Earth Transformed, Peter Frankopan’s book on how the natural world has shaped human history, in the coming months.
The publisher is doing a homepage takeover of the History Extra website for the entire month. The Earth Transformed, published on 2nd March 2023, will also be on the cover of the April issue of History Today and will be advertised across their website for the entire month of March.
Frankopan will be occupying headline slots across all the major UK literary festivals such as Hay, Edinburgh Cheltenham and the history festivals throughout the year.
In November 2022 Waterstones collaborated on a cover reveal on social media. Bloomsbury’s year-long digital advertising campaign ran across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and AMS, driving pre-orders to retailers.
The Earth Transformed has been chosen as Book of the Month by Blackwell’s, Stanfords and Hatchards with a sprayed edge special edition for Waterstones.
For publication, Bloomsbury worked with Edna Edna to paint the windows of a select number of Blackwell’s and Waterstones stores across the UK, including Waterstones Manchester Deansgate and Waterstones Gower St. Every Waterstones and Blackwell’s ordered POS, which went out to over 300 stores.
An audio advertising campaign kicked off this week along with a month-long campaign across a range of platforms, including radio stations with older ABC1 listeners such as Jazz FM and Boom Radio. Bloomsbury will be running podcast advertising across Acast’s history, politics and science verticals.
Audio advertising will continue throughout the year with activations at key moments, such as Father’s Day, summer reading and Christmas gifting.
The author is confirmed to appear across TV and radio throughout March and April 2023 in broadcast slots such as BBC Radio 4’s Start the Week, Channel 4 News, BBC2 Politics Live, BBC Radio 3 Free Thinking, and CNN Amanpour. The Earth Transformed will be BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week for Earth Day in April.
