Bloomsbury has launched a bookshop campaign celebrating the publication of Ann Patchett’s 10th novel, Tom Lake. The book will be published on 1st August by Bloomsbury in the UK and HarperCollins in the US.
Working closely with Bloomsbury’s team of area sales managers and The Booksellers Association, more than 200 bookshops will receive point of sale (POS) packs containing instructions on how to enter a display competition. This will see one bookseller and a colleague sent on a trip to Nashville, Tennessee, to visit Patchett’s bookshop, Parnassus Books.
Bloomsbury has also teamed up with agency EDNAEDNA to get certain bookshop windows across the UK painted live by window artists, celebrating the Impressionist painting by Caillebotte that Patchett discovered for the cover of Tom Lake. Kew Bookshop is the first to have been painted, by artist Joe Holbrook.
Bloomsbury’s publicity campaign launched on Saturday 22nd July and a major advertising campaign set to reach millions of readers will kick off on publication. This will include podcast advertising and a filmic trailer both featuring voiceover by Meryl Streep, who has narrated the audiobook.
