Bloomsbury Children’s Books has announced that Beatrice Cross is promoted to publicity director and Alesha Bonser is promoted to marketing director, with immediate effect.
Cross has been responsible for driving prize, media and industry attention for Bloomsbury Children’s titles, with additional responsibility for all Harry Potter brand communications. She has continued to develop engagement and reach across campaigns including for You Don’t Know What War Is by Yeva Skalietska.
Bonser joined Bloomsbury in a newly created marketing leadership role in September 2021. Under her management, Bloomsbury Children’s has developed and revitalised the trade, educational and Harry Potter brand and marketing teams.
The publisher said: “Alesha has bought great vision, firstly for making audiences a priority and secondly for creating game-changing campaigns. This focus has led to excellent planning for year-round strategies across key brands and for Bloomsbury Children’s authors and illustrators.”
Nicola Hill, group director, consumer marketing and publicity, added: “Beatrice and Alesha have taken on their leadership roles in the children’s division with gusto, creativity and huge ambition for the growth of our lists and investment in their teams.”
Bonser and Cross commented: “We’re pleased to be continuing our partnership and working together to grow the best marketing and publicity team in the business; delivering industry-leading campaigns and bringing an audience-first focus to Bloomsbury Children’s Books. This year looks set to be a phenomenal year for the Bloomsbury Children’s M&P team, with huge creative campaigns planned for The Harry Potter Wizarding Almanac, Katherine Rundell’s Impossible Creatures, Tom Percival’s Big Bright Feelings series and the agenda-setting non-fiction title Brilliant Black British History by Atinuke and Kingsley Nebechi.
“We also look forward to working with the wider consumer senior leadership team under Nicola Hill on strategy and development across Bloomsbury’s marketing and publicity divisions.”
