Bloomsbury has snapped up Gordon Brown: The Inside Story by journalist James Macintyre.
Bloomsbury Trade publishing director Ian Marshall acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Gordon Wise of Curtis Brown for publication in July 2025.
The synopsis states: "Gordon Brown is one of the most significant British politicians of the last 30 years. One of the key architects of New Labour, alongside Tony Blair, he was at the centre of power for more than a decade between 1997 and 2010, first as Chancellor of the Exchequer then as Prime Minister. Gordon Brown: The Inside Story is the definitive biography of the statesman."
Commenting on the acquisition, Marshall said: "Having worked with Gordon Brown in the past, I had a small insight into what a fascinating character he is, as well as seeing his remarkable energy and his ongoing passion to help make life better for others. James’ wonderful book is based on the best access to Brown and those who know him best, from his family to Tony Blair, as well as those on the other side of the political spectrum."
Macintyre added: "I believe this book, and the new revelations it will contain including Gordon’s battles with the Murdoch media empire, will offer many lessons for his present-day successor, Keir Starmer."
