Pan Macmillan imprint Bluebird has bagged Kaizen: The Japanese Method for Transforming Habits, One Small Step at a Time by publishing consultant Sarah Harvey.
Publisher Carole Tonkinson acquired world rights direct from the author. It will be published in October 2019.
The book introduces readers to Kaizen, a way of building good habits incrementally. Harvey was living in Tokyo working as a freelance book scout and publishing consultant when she fell in love with Japanese culture and was introduced to Kaizen.
Harvey now lives in London where she sells book translation rights for diverse brands and bestselling authors. Tonkinson said: "Sarah Harvey, a former colleague beloved in the book industry, has delivered a wonderfully readable, informative and inviting guide to what I think will be a really important forward trend.
"We all want to make changes, but big changes can be overwhelming and New Year's resolutions fall by the wayside all too soon. Instead, Sarah has shown us how to make tiny, incremental changes that add up to have a lasting impact. I'm so excited about this book and its gorgeous design. We've already had several auctions and lots of sales are racking up."
