Wayland Books, part of the Hachette Children’s Group, is publishing a non-fiction title about masculinity by Jeffrey Boakye and Darren Chetty.
What is Masculinity? Why Does It Matter? And Other Big Questions will be published in Wayland’s ‘And Other Big Questions’ series for young readers in June next year, and will help young people explore masculinity and gender roles in today’s society.
Paul Rockett, publishing director at Wayland, said: “We are incredibly pleased to have the nimble and insightful writing talents of Jeffrey and Darren working on this important and timely title. The topic of masculinity is very much in the spotlight at the moment, with many queries as to its importance and its positives and negatives that have added to a confusion many children have over gender roles and role models. The experience both authors have of working as teachers in schools and in researching and writing widely on issues of identity make them the ideal guides to help the reader think about and question this topic widely.”
The publisher has world rights and signed the deal with Boakye’s agent, Sarah Such, and with Chetty directly.
