Boldwood has acquired books by 16 more authors, bringing the total number of writers on its list to 167. The publisher has also appointed Victoria Britton as its editorial director.
Fiona Gibson and Linda Green are among the writers that have joined Boldwood, alongside women’s fiction writers Celia Anderson and Karen King. Gibson was previously published by Avon, and her first book with Boldwood, ’Tis the Damn Season, will be published in September. Green has moved to Boldwood from Quercus, and her first book with the publisher will be released in March next year.
In addition, King is the author of psychological thrillers published by Bookouture, and she will be writing "golden years fiction" for Boldwood, the first of which will be published in March 2025. Anderson, who was previously published by HarperCollins, will also be writing books in this genre, and her first book for Boldwood, Life Begins at 50!, will be published next month.
Joining the psychological thriller line-up are Amanda Brittany, Sarah Bonner and Tam Barnett. Previously published by HQ and Joffe Books, Brittany’s first book with Boldwood will be Now You Are Mine, which will be published in September. Meanwhile, Bonner was previously published by Hodder & Stoughton, and her first Boldwood book, How to Slay at Work, will be published this September.
Meanwhile, Alison Roberts and Victoria Springfield are moving to the publisher with their "wish you were here" novels, while Renita d’Silva and Maisie Thomas will bring new historical fiction to the list. Roberts has written various romance novels for Mills & Boon, and her first title with Boldwood, Falling for Provence, will be released in September, while An Italian Island Secret by Springfield, who was published by Orion, will be published in January next year. Thomas is the author behind the Railway Girls novels (Penguin), and will begin a new saga series for Boldwood, the first of which will be published in April 2025, and d’Silva, who was also published by Bookouture in the past, will publish her first book with Boldwood, The Secret Keeper, in August.
As Boldwood builds its romance list, it is welcoming Amy Andrews and Kelly Jamieson, alongside Christy McKellen, Olivia Spring, and Rachael Stewart. Andrews’ first sports romance for Boldwood will be published this September, followed by the first book in her Undercover Billionaire series. Jamieson will also write sports romance for Boldwood, the first of which will be released in January 2025, and McKellen — who was previously published by Mills & Boon – will release her first novel with Boldwood, Three’s a Crowd, this month.
Finally, Spring’s "sexy romcom" for Boldwood is called The One That Got Away, and will be published in October. The first book by Stewart, who was also writing for Mills & Boon, will be released in May next year, and is the title from the two Billionaire series she has signed with Boldwood.
All authors have been contracted on multi-book deals and will be published in every format simultaneously in all English language territories.
To further enhance the Boldwood editorial team, the company has appointed Britton as editorial director. She joins from Severn House. Britton spent her earlier publishing career at Mills & Boon, managing a portfolio of authors across all the Harlequin lists. She will be charged with acquiring across the commercial fiction genres, with a focus on the action adventure and thriller area. "My time at Severn House has been an absolute joy and I will miss my colleagues there," she said. "But I am thrilled to be joining the fabulous, award-winning team at Boldwood. Their publishing model and general company ethos champions innovation, diversity and flexibility and I can’t wait to dive in and get started on a new action-packed list."
Founder and chief executive Amanda Ridout added: "As we celebrate our fifth birthday and pass the 26 million units sold milestone, we are delighted to be welcoming more brilliant authors to the Boldwood family. With the arrival of Vic, we now have a nine-strong editorial team who are acquiring and publishing across all the commercial fiction areas to great success and we look forward to building further on our bestselling start to the year."
