Boldwood has signed up eight new authors, including Killing Eve writer Luke Jennings, and set up a new German publishing partnership. The business said it has had a very strong fifth year of trading when the company grew its revenue by 30% to £9.3m.
The eight new authors bring its writer count up to 192 – including the bestselling Scottish crime writer John Carson and thriller writers Sam Cogley, Andrew Warren and Lex Faulkner. Also joining the list are the feel-good romantic comedy authors Jo Lyons and Clodagh Murphy and the bestselling women’s fiction writer Jill Childs – who is turning to dark domestic noir. Jennings is the author of the original Killing Eve novels, which were the basis for the hit TV series. He is bringing his fourth Killing Eve title Resurrection to the list and will continue the series over the next two years.

All the new authors have been contracted on multi-book deals and will be published in every format simultaneously in all English-language territories. As a further step to bringing its authors to a wider European audience, Boldwood has announced a publishing partnership with DP Publishers in Germany. It will publish 50 titles a year over the next three years from across the Boldwood catalogue. The deal was brokered by Boldwood’s translation rights agent Vicki Satlow and follows similar partnerships formed with Overamstel in the Netherlands, City Editions in France and with Tea Books in Serbia.
Amanda Ridout, founder and CEO, said: “Having finished a very successful fifth trading year, we are thrilled to welcome more brilliant authors to the Boldwood list. To be building a three-year partnership with DP Publishers, whose innovative and entrepreneurial approach mirrors our own, will provide further opportunities for our authors to reach readers in the substantial German market. It’s an exciting time for us all.”
