Irish actor Andrew Scott will narrate an audiobook of Emily Rodda's The Glimme, audio publisher Bolinda has announced. The book was first published by Scholastic Australia in 2019.
Nicki Powell, rights and content executive, acquired world English language audio rights from Catherine Gillam at Scholastic AU. The audiobook will be available in summer 2020.
The Glimme is a children's fantasy story. Finn spends his days drawing wild coastlines and dragon-shaped clouds. One day, a strange housekeeper sees his art and buys him for a handful of gold. She shows him some extraordinary paintings of scenes and creatures, which he thinks must have come from pure fantasy, but soon, he will begin to slip between two worlds and plunge into the wonders and perils of The Glimme.
Powell commented: "From the moment I started reading The Glimme and became immersed in the beautiful world that is crafted through Emily Rodda’s words and Marc McBride’s stunning illustrations, I knew it would need a very special casting."
Scott, known for his role as Jim Moriarty in BBC's "Sherlock", added: "I really loved reading this beautiful story about hope and home, and the endless power and wonder of our imagination. I think readers young and old will love it as much as I did."
Rodda said: "I’m delighted to know that Andrew Scott will be reading The Glimme. This fantasy story was a joy to write, and as I wrote I continually imagined it being read aloud."
Emily Rodda is a pseudonym for Australian author Jennifer Rowe.
