Bonnier Books has appointed Bea Grabowska as senior commissioning editor on Bonnier’s first digital-first imprint Embla. Grabowska starts her role in January. She joins from Hachette’s Headline where she was commissioning editor, and acquired award-winning author Heidi Stephens, CWA-shortlisted author Michelle Teahan and Helena Echlin’s Clever Little Thing from Pamela Dorman Books, while publishing bestsellers Olivia Beirne and Sarah Steele, and working on Victoria Hislop and Deborah Harkness’ publishing.
Grabowska is joining Embla as it finished 2024 with a 65% growth in sales from the previous year. Authors on Embla include bestselling authors such as Sarah Yarwood-Lovett, Lucy Coleman, Becca Day and Marius Gabriel.
Martina Arzu, editorial director of Embla, said: "I am absolutely thrilled that Bea will be joining the imprint. Her experience overseeing Headline Accent and her contributions to The Future Bookshelf committee make her the perfect addition to our growing team. Bea is incredibly talented, creative and passionate about the opportunities in digital publishing. I know she’ll bring tremendous energy and play a key role during this exciting time of expansion for Embla."
Grabowska said: "It has been such a pleasure and a privilege to work with and learn from some of the most talented and inspiring colleagues and authors during my six years at Headline. I will miss everyone greatly, but I am ready and excited to be taking this next step in my career at Embla. They have such an impressive list and have seen phenomenal growth over the past few years, and I can’t wait to join their smart, dynamic and creative team."
Grabowska joins the company this week, reporting into Arzu. Commercial fiction submissions can be sent to Bea Grabowska at Bea.Grabowska@bonnierbooks.co.uk.
