Bonnier Publishing UK is set to launch its first in-house podcast this month entitled "The Barcelona Legacy".
The six part series explores how the evolution of today’s “beautiful” game of football began in Barcelona 25 years ago, with the pioneering ideas of Johan Cruyff.
Over six episodes, podcast host Marcus Speller, along with author Jonathan Wilson and a panel of experts, will take an in-depth look at six "incredible matches that changed football", from Cruyff’s Barcelona to Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid, Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The series coincides with the release of The Barcelona Legacy – a book written by one of the panelists, Guardian football correspondent Wilson – out this month in hardback, e-book and audiobook.
Episode guests include Gabriele Marcotti of the Times and ESPN, Miguel Delaney and Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Independent, and John Brewin of ESPN.
Jon Watt, head of audio at Bonnier Publishing UK, said: “At a time when we’re all riveted by the World Cup, we’re absolutely delighted to be launching a podcast that takes fans on a captivating and nostalgic 25-year journey into the beautiful game. 'The Barcelona Legacy' is exactly the sort of innovative, thought-provoking content that our audio division was launched to create – and it’s just the first of many such podcast series to come from Bonnier Publishing."
World English language rights (excluding USA/CAN) were acquired from David Luxton Associates.
The first episode will be available on 26th July 2018. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly.
