Big Picture Press, an imprint of Bonnier Books UK, has acquired a non-fiction children’s book from Channel 4 News’ weather presenter and meteorologist Liam Dutton.
Katie Haworth, editorial director, acquired world rights directly from the author for publication in August 2022.
Currently untitled, the book will be for readers aged nine to 12 and will be illustrated to give readers a clear understanding of the weather. The book will also bust some well-known weather myths.
Dutton commented: "Through writing this book, I want to inspire children — and adults reading along with them — to look up at the sky and take an interest in the weather around them. Weather is something that affects us all and with the global impacts of climate change and extreme weather, there has never been a more important time to understand what is happening in our planet’s atmosphere."
Haworth added: "We are so excited to have Liam Dutton’s exploration of the weather coming out on Big Picture Press. As well as being a household name, Liam is a champion for the science behind the weather and honest weather reporting. At a time when the effects of the weather are constantly being discussed in the media, it seems vital to have a children’s book that offers accessible, factual and fascinating explanations of how our planet’s weather systems work."
