Hannah Smith is joining Penguin Michael Joseph in the newly created role of editorial director for fiction from Bonnier Books UK, where she was editorial director.
Smith, who helped launch Bonnier’s Embla imprint last year as well as having previously held positions at Head of Zeus and HarperCollins, will join Penguin Michael Joseph on 3rd October, reporting to publisher Cleo Cornish.
In her career, Smith has published authors such as Sarah Yarwood-Lovett, Dandy Smith and Becca Day, as well as Faith Hogan, Andie Newton and Lucy Coleman.
She said: “Launching the Embla list was a fantastic experience and one that allowed me to work with a host of talented authors.
“But when the opportunity to join the Michael Joseph team arose, I knew that this was an opportunity I had to pursue. I’ve long admired the tenacity and brilliance of MJ’s publishing and I can’t wait to be a part of their future growth.”
