Aspiring writers aged 5-11 are being invited to create a bedtime story along the theme of animals. The winner will have their story illustrated by Ada Grey and published by Little Tiger Press.
The winning story will be sold exclusively by The Book People, with all proceeds going to children’s charity Action for Children.
TV presenter Fearne Cotton will help to judge the entries, along with fellow TV presenter Laura Hamilton, representatives from The Book People and Little Tiger Press, the illustrator Ada Grey and an ambassador from Action for Children.
Sarah Walden, group buying and merchandising director at The Book People, said: “We all know the joy of a great bedtime story, and how it can take children and parents alike off on an exciting adventure or into a new world before bed.
“With this competition we wanted to give children an opportunity to write their own bedtime story, showing off their fabulous imaginations and creating something that will capture young readers as they drift off to sleep.”
Entrants can submit their story online by 24th October.
The judging panel will choose five shortlisted entrants to attend an event in London on 3rd November, where the winner will be announced. The winner will also receive £250 in books for themselves and £250 for their school.
