The owners of Booka Bookshop in Oswestry, Shropshire, have announced that they are launching a second store in Bridgnorth.
Husband-and-wife team Carrie and Tim Morris founded Booka in 2009. The store was awarded UK & Ireland Independent Bookshop of the year in 2015, six years after opening.
Booka Bridgnorth is due to open its doors at the end of September 2023, if all goes to plan in terms of fitting out the shop with the essential fixtures and fittings.
The pair have been planning to open a bookshop in a second location for years but had been delayed by Covid. “We picked up the reins again last year scouting potential locations and homed in on Bridgnorth, a good-sized market town on the River Severn in southeast Shropshire,” they told The Bookseller.
They went on to add: “We’re delighted to have secured a well-located unit on High Street which we think will make a great bookshop. We were excited to finally make the announcement last week and have been buoyed by the hugely positive response across social media.”
