A coaching group has been launched by bookcareers.com to help people in publishing dealing with workplace issues such as burnout.
Suzanne Collier, the career coach behind the Professionals Coaching Group, said the aim is to bring people with similar issues together to help provide coaching solutions in a safe environment.
“Many people in publishing don’t have access to a confidential support network. We aim to fill this gap and provide actionable solutions,” she said, adding that the platform’s salary survey last year highlighted “several instances where people were looking for ongoing support and guidance with workplace situations, for example, time management, overwork, burnout, conflicting priorities as well as ongoing industry changes”.
Each meeting will be online and have a different focus, driven by those participating, and all meetings will be confidential and off-camera. The next meeting will be held on 27th September here.
Bookcareers.com has also restarted its Newcomers Job Club to support those who are looking to enter the industry and publishing hopefuls, whether they are starting out or changing career.
This will be an online meeting where Collier will share knowledge about job-seeking in book publishing, discuss job opportunities and answer questions. The next meeting on 22nd September is a CV masterclass and will teach attendees how to make their CV stand out. Registration can be found here.
There are no ongoing membership fees but both groups have a small admission charge, with honesty tickets available for those who cannot afford the ticket price.
