Bookouture celebrated a second consecutive year of "significant double-digit sales growth" in 2024, as the team presented key achievements and growth plans to agents at Hachette’s Carmelite House office this week.
Previously, only a few Bookouture titles were being distributed in print by Little, Brown. However, the digital-first publisher now has an in-house UK print sales team, with approximately 25 to 30 titles a year having full trade print distribution.
Bookouture is marking its 12th birthday this month, and has been a division of Hachette UK since March 2017.
At the agent breakfast, the publisher also noted the success of Freida McFadden’s Housemaid trilogy, to which translation rights have been sold in more than 40 languages. The story will also be adapted into a film starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
The team at Bookouture’s SFF imprint Second Sky will be expanding in January 2025, with the hire of a new commissioning editor. Meanwhile, 2025 will also see the launch of a paid online training platform for authors with a focus on writing commercial fiction for a digital audience.
