Bookouture has signed two new novels from K L Slater, a writer the digital publisher says has sold one million copies in two years.
Lydia Vassar-Smith, associate publisher at the Hachette UK-owned imprint, signed world English rights for the untitled books from Camilla Bolton at Darley Anderson.
Slater spent years trying to get published without success before making her name as a YA writer under the name Kim Slater with books like debut Smart (Macmillan Children's Books). In 2016, she signed with Bookouture and began publishing psychological thrillers, with titles including Blink and Liar.
She said: “This new contract means I get to carry on writing what I love best. I’m so grateful to my agent, publisher and, of course, to my fantastic readers. Sometimes dreams can take a while to realise but for me, returning to a life of crime was definitely worth the wait.”
Vassar Smith added: “In a market crowded with psychological thrillers Kim is still a market leader and one who I am enormously proud to publish. Kim delivers books that are high-concept and original with that elusive stand-out quality. It is a real privilege to work with someone of Kim’s calibre.”
