Bookouture are hosting Digital Publishing Uncovered, an online event for writers of colour who are looking to discover more about digital publishing and commercial fiction.
The event will be held online on Thursday, 19th September 2pm (6pm BST). Only 300 places are available and writers must sign up in advance on the publisher’s website. The event is open to writers from a Black, Asian, mixed heritage or multiple ethnic background.
The event consists of two seminars and two 45-minute panels led by members of Bookouture’s editorial and publicity teams. The first seminar, titled Hooks and Pitches, will explain "the importance of a strong hook" and will be followed by a second 30-minute seminar on writing for a digital commercial audience. Bookouture’s SFF imprint, Second Sky, will host the first panel titled Imagining new worlds: representation and community in SFF.
The second panel will be led by a member of the publicity team and will spotlight some of the publisher’s authors, explaining their journey to publication and what to expect at each stage of the publishing process. Each session includes 15 minutes for a Q&A.
