Sameer Rahim is joining The Bridge Street Press as publisher from his role as deputy editor of Prospect magazine on 14th November.
Prior to his role on Prospect magazine, Rahim worked at the Telegraph for seven years on the books desk, having started his career at the London Review of Books. His novel, Asghar and Zahra (John Murray), was published in 2019 and he judged the Booker Prize in 2020.
The Bridge Street Press, launched by Tim Whiting in 2020, has published authors including Tim Harford, Michael Wolff, Sheera Frenkel, Cecilia Kang, Mervyn King and John Kay. Whiting left Hachette for Bonnier Books UK earlier this year.
Rahim said: “After 20 years in literary journalism, I feel enormous excitement in crossing over into the publishing world and taking over The Bridge Street Press.
“It is already a highly successful imprint with an excellent range of authors. I am looking forward to building on that success.”
Clare Smith, executive publisher for literary, said: “As soon as we met Sameer, his outstanding editorial instincts and talent were clear.
“Immersed in, and passionate about, literary non-fiction publishing, his deep connection with the writers he works with, and his ability to shape and publish thought-leaders in their fields, mean that he is the ideal person to take The Bridge Street Press forward on its next exciting stage.”
Charlie King, m.d. of Little, Brown, also commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be welcoming Sameer to Little, Brown. His vision for The Bridge Street Press and for non-fiction publishing in general is exceptionally compelling and I know he will add a huge amount to our team. Sameer has all the editorial flair and commercial nous to take Bridge Street forward into an exciting new era.”
