Lisa Jewell’s The Family Upstairs (Cornerstone) headed to the top of the Bookstat e-book top 10 for the week ending 12th June.
The psychological thriller, published in late 2019, became a lockdown hit, regularly charting high in both print and digital. In e-book, its price dropped to 99p at the start of June, boosting it all the way to the top. The author’s pivot from contemporary romance to thriller has certainly paid off—The Family Upstairs is easily Jewell’s bestseller in print.
Nick Alexander’s From Something Old (Lake Union) and Amanda Prowse’s An Ordinary Life (Lake Union) debuted in the top four, as Peter May’s Entry Island (Quercus) and Cathy Kelly’s Other Women (Orion) also hit the chart for the first time.
Clarification: Hachette has stated that The Marriage (Bookouture) sold 5,512 units; Entry Island 5,497; and Other Women 4,440.
