Karin Slaughter’s False Witness (HarperCollins) set its sights on the Bookstat e-book number one, charting top for the week ending 8th January. This was the crime author’s first ever number one in the digital chart, though both The Silent Wife and The Good Daughter have racked up multiple weeks in the chart.
Slaughter’s HarperCollins stablemate Adele Parks also debuted in the top 10, with Both of You (HQ) clinching second for the same week its paperback debuted in the Mass Market Fiction chart in sixth place.
Ali Hazelwood’s TikTok hit The Love Hypothesis (Sphere) debuted in third in the Bookstat chart after a price drop to 99p.
Though it’s rare for a non-fiction title to hit the e-book top 10, James Clear’s 2018-published title Atomic Habits (Cornerstone) made its debut, charting eighth. Atomic Habits has been a reliable presence in e-book, audio and print’s January charts over the past few years, and has sold just under 150,000 copies in paperback.
Clarification: Hachette has stated that The Love Hypothesis has sold 5,653 copies; Sorrow and Bliss 6,183; and Sheltering Rain 6,174.
