BookTrust and its current writer-in-residence, Nicola Davies, are launching a poetry competition for primary schools.
The charity is asking primary school pupils to take part in the Under My Sky competition, either individually or as a class, by submitting a poem about nature or their local environment.
One winner will receive a school visit from Davies and a collection of her books, and two runners-up will also get a selection of books. BookTrust will publish the winning poems and 20 other entries on the its website.
Davies said: “This poetry competition is to make young poets look at the natural world around them, and think deeply about it, what it means to them and to us all. Their poems will help us all to learn to really see nature and really value it; this is the most important and urgent lesson humanity needs right now.”
The deadline for entry is 18th January 2019. Information about how to enter is on the BookTrust website.
