Townhouse Publishing, a children’s publisher launched at the end of March 2022 at Bologna Children’s Book Fair, is to be represented by Bounce Sales and Marketing, which will help it launch its 2023 list.
The publisher’s first book, published in October 2022, is a Christmas title – Santa’s Christmas Countdown, written by Kath Jewitt and illustrated by Sebastien Braun.
The book features a Black Santa for the first time in trade publishing, which the publisher says “is in keeping with the company’s mission to create beautifully illustrated contemporary stories that include positive Black representation and diversity.”
It will be followed by seven further “innovative formats” for children aged 0 to 6 years in spring/summer 2023.
The publisher continues: “Townhouse wants to give children a turbo-charged boost to their reading journey by creating innovative, high-quality novelty titles that young readers and their grown-ups can’t wait to pick up and explore.
“All achievable with its fabulous team of writers, illustrators and imaginative, multi-sensory features, formats and activities that delight, excite and draw children in.”
